The Supreme Court has recently stated that it cannot modify its verdict directing the Centre to consider granting permanent commission to women officers in the Army by entertaining individual grievances. The Bench composed of Justices D Y Chandrachud and M R Shah said that cannot start modifying the previous judgment which was made on February 17, 2020, due to some individual cases. In its landmark decision delivered on 17 February 2020, the Supreme Court ordered the Centre to recognize all working Short Service Commission (SSC) female permanent commission officers, irrespective of whether they have served 14 years of service or, as the case may be, 20 years of service.
