State courts have been working virtually via video conferencing platforms since the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic in March 2020. The decision of the Kerala High Court was made in a meeting of the full court of the Higher Court and a notice of the decision was published on Saturday. “The case lists published for November 22, 2021, will be presented to the physical courts in the respective courts/chambers listed on the list,” the statement said. Oral proceedings before all district courts will also take place physically from November 22nd. On November 19, a memorandum was issued by the office in this regard. The Kerala High Court requested that the physical hearings in the High Court and all lower state courts resume from November 1, 2021, including the Higher Regional Court and Lower State Courts.

On November 2, a meeting with the Committee Redressal of Grievances of Advocates’ Associations/Lawyers, Kerala High Court Advocates’ Clerks’ Association and members of the Supreme Court staff was held to discuss proposals from various parties and bar associations to restore the regular physical session in court. According to a notice from the Kerala High Court Advocate Association issued later that day, it was decided to resume the physical hearings over a two-week period but insist on vaccination certificates for anyone entering the courtroom.
