The petition was allowed by the division bench of Justice MS Ramchandra Rao and Justice T Amarnath Goud. The petition was filed by Ram Gopal Verma challenging the order of the lower court.
“The subject film was not intended to hurt the respondent Amrutha and her family members. The film only highlights the love between a father and his daughter”, the petitioner counsel K. Durga Prasad submitted.
The Court directed to filmmaker to remove the names of Amrutha, Pranay and Maruthi Rao if they were being used in the film.
The film was based on the honour killing of Pranay murdered by the wife’s family in daylight. Amrutha, Pranay’s widow filed a case in Nalgonda Court seeking to stop the release of the film. The lower court gave a stay order; filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma approached the High Court.
