Tarpaulin theft case: Calcutta HC refuses to stay probe against BJP MLA and LOP

The Hon’ble Calcutta High Court had refused to stay the police probe in connection with Tarpaulin theft.

The Hon’ble bench of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh was hearing the plea of Adhikari where he and four others including his brother were accused of stealing tarpaulins from the civic body’s godown.

The council appearing from Adhikari’s side had submitted that he had falsely been implicated.

The Hon’ble court in the instant case noted that senior counsel prayed for an interim order and the court here stated that it is not inclined to pass any interim order at the instant stage and that too without perusal to the case diary. further, the court granted the petitioner, granted the liberty to renew their prayer for an interim order.

The public prosecutor who was present there was asked to present the case diary in the next hearing and the matter will appear for consideration on June 22, 2021.
